According to This Old House, only stainless steel, quartz, and acrylic undermount sinks undermount on laminate counters, because the adhesives are made specifically to bond these materials. Stainless steel and acrylic sinks are lighter than stone or ceramic_sinks.

Can you have undermount sink with Formica? To be undermounted to high pressure laminate, a sink must have an approximately 1” wide rim that is made from a resin, has been machined completely flat and meets the bowl wall at a sharp 90-degree angle. Our Karran acrylic sinks meet these specs, but so do a few other acrylic solid surface sinks on the market.

Can an undermount sink be replaced? The short answer is yes it can be replaced. However, I do recommend having agranite contractor do the replacement. The adhesive used to hold the sinks under the top is very strong once adhered. It will likely have to be cut and ground out from the underside.

Can you use an undermount sink with butcher block countertops? But installing beautiful butcher block counters meant using a cutting board would be a must to avoid scratches. Putting butcher block arounda sink is risky enough, even without the sinks being under-mounted. You definitely have to make sure to use silicone around the sink seam and also use a good wood sealer.
