Tile that has been rated as right for floors can be used on walls. But the opposite is not true. Nobody expects to walk on the wall, so wall tile is often softer and less durable than floor tile. Because wall tile usually does not stand up to the abuse of floor tile, it tends to be softer or more prone to_breaking.

Can you use the same tile on floor and shower walls? If you choose to go that direction, you can use the same tile cut in smaller sizes in a different area of the bathroom. For example if you use 12 x 24 tiles on the floor, you can use the same tile on the bathroom floor in 2 x 2s to continue the color across the entire floor, but creating a more slip free showerfloor.

Why are mosaic tiles so expensive? Mosaic tile installation costs: Because mosaic sheets are intricate to design and difficult to manufacture, the tiles tend to be relatively expensive. The average cost ranges from around $8 to $20 per square foot, and the installation price is often anadditional $9 to $12.

Can I tile over existing tiles? If your old ceramic tile is worn or dated, you can lay new tile right over the old, andavoid the huge job of tearing out the old tile. This assumes that the floor underneath is solid (concrete) and that there are no cracks in the existing tile (indicating underlying problems in the concrete).
