There are two ways to advertise a default route into a normal area. The first is to advertise into the OSPF domain, provided theadvertising router already has a default route. The second is to advertise 0.0.

What is ad value? Administrative Distance (AD) is a value that routers use in order to select the best path when there are two or more different routes to the same destination from two different routing protocols. Administrative Distance (AD) is a numeric value which can range from 0 to 255.

How do I enable OSPFv2? Benefits of Enabling OSPFv2 on an Interface BasisAlternatively, you can-enable OSPFv2 explicitly on an interface by using the ip ospf area command, which is entered in interface configuration mode. This capability simplifies the configuration of unnumbered interfaces with different areas.

Why we use OSPF? The idea behind theOSPF areas is to lower the amount of routing traffic and lower the processing of your core routers. Different areas are connected with each other through Area Border Router (ABR). OSPF is link state routing protocol and you can tune a link state routing protocol to converge fast.

How do I advertise a default route in RIP? Router R3 is connected to the ISP's internet router and and has a static default route that points to it. It is possible to advertise that default route using RIP to other routers in the local network. On R3, we simply need to enter the default-information originate command in the RIP configurationmode.
