A properly-tensioned chainsaw chain should still be just a little loose on the chainsaw guide bar, but the chain needs to be tight enough that you can't pull the drive links out of the bar_nose.

How do you change a chainsaw blade?

  1. Step 1: Remove the Old Chainsaw Chain.
  2. Step 2: Release the Chain Tension.
  3. Step 3: Remove the Old Chainsaw Chain.
  4. Step 4: Loosen the Tensioning Screw.
  5. Step 5: Thread the New Chain Onto the Saw.
  6. Step 6: Align the Guide Bar.
  7. Step 7: Replace the Side Plate.
  8. Step 8: Tighten the Chain to the Correct Tension.

When should I replace chainsaw chain? When to Replace a Chainsaw Chain

  1. Teeth are broken or worn unevenly.
  2. Issues with Chain Tension.
  3. Smoke is present when cutting.
  4. Sawdust, rather than coarse chips are left behind.
  5. Chainsaw feels unbalanced, cuts unevenly, or rattles when inuse.

Can you put a 20 inch bar on a Husqvarna 440? I had always used a Stihl, so in December 2013 I added a Husqvarna 440 to my collection. Just something that was easier to handle than a Stihl with a 20 inch bar. With a price point of $299 (as of January 2017), the 440 is at the bottom of the Husqvarna pricerange.

Are chainsaw bars interchangeable? Are chainsaw bars interchangeable? Unfortunately, it is impossible to give an answer that is correct for all types of chainsaws. For the most part, you can assume that you probably will not be able to take a name brand chainsaw and use a bar from another name brand chainsaw on it.
