Kafka has three primary capabilities:
  • It enables applications to publish or subscribe to data or event streams.
  • It stores records accurately (i.e., in the order in which they occurred) in a fault-tolerant and durable way.
  • It processes records in real-time (as they occur).

What is kafka and why it is used? Kafka is often used in real-time streaming data architectures to provide real-time analytics. Since Kafka is a fast, scalable, durable, and fault-tolerant publish-subscribe messaging system, Kafka is used in use cases where JMS, RabbitMQ, and AMQP may not even be considered due to volume andresponsiveness.

Is kafka at least once or exactly once? At least once guarantee means you will definitely receive and process every message, but you may process some messages additional times in the face of a failure. ... An application sends a batch of messages to Kafka. The application never receives a response so sends the batch again.

Is confluent kafka paid? Apache Kafka® is free, and Confluent Cloud is very cheap for small use cases, about $1 a month to produce, store, and consume a GB of data. As your usage scales and your requirements become more sophisticated, your cost will scale-too.
